Would USM football be better off scheduling game for August 29th?

Southern Miss has an open date on September 19th due to Jackson State canceling. However, if the replacement team is an FCS school wouldn't it make sense to play the game on August 29th instead of September 19th? Why play a tune-up game for the 3rd game of the season?
