WHY DID THEY SWITCH USM?

When I first learned that USM was going to the Indy Bowl I immediately checked out their website. They had USM as the home team - the USM logo was to the right on the screen. I checked it a few moments ago and now we are on the left. Did we get switched from being the home team to the away team? I screenshot the two variations.

I believe this to be the way to interpret this. When Team A VS Team B, The one that "Versus" (Team A) is the Home team and the other (Team B) is the visiting team. When Team A @ Team B then Team A is the visitor and Team B, the home team. This is how you interpret it when you look at, say our schedule. For instance, our first games was Southern Miss VS Kentucky. Kentucky came to the Rock and of course was the Visitor. I dont know if thats a Law or rule of thumb, but the team that "Versus" the other team is the home team.

And the first column says Southern Miss VS Florida State. I hope that makes us the home team so we can wear our black uniforms!

It’s a neutral site game but will be seen as home field advantage for Southern Miss.

But they’ll likely decide home and away based off conference. If the ACC was the away team last year, they’ll be the home team this year.

Again, though, the only differences between home and away here will just be who calls the coin toss and what side of the field we’re on.

Thanks guys for your input. It makes more sense. Yes it will be interesting to see if which conference the refs come from to officiate the game.
