Who was involved in making this bowl happen?

I’m not sure Dave. But if Gilbert had a huge hand in it then he is making proactive steps to putting USM back where we belong.

If true then kudos to him. This is the biggest name opponent USM has ever taken on in the post season. This is bigger than TCU(still a member of the WAC), CSU, Pitt, Mizzou or any other team you can remember. Everything had to come together in so many ways.

Washington was pretty big!

I think this had more to do with who FSU didnt want to play, than anything that Gibert did. He just happened to be AD for the Southern Miss program. The rest took care of itself.

How could I forget Washington! You can argue that Washington was somwhat more talented than FSU. This no slight to FSU, but UW made the playoffs the following year.
