I’ve never cared too much about our conference, it was all about how we did against the SEC. I enrolled at Southern Miss in ‘79 and back then we held our own. I also believe that the amount of SEC teams we once played helped in recruiting but somewhere along the line we decided we didn’t need those games until it was too late, kind of like when CUSA decided we didn’t need ESPN.
