Every time that we drive through Covington County for any reason, my Wife begs me to stop at the Watermelon Patch, just north of the Covington County line on 49....I acquiesced, as a good husband will, this past Saturday on our way back to Dallas from Gulf Shores...."Under new Ownership" is the new theme at this place....well, all I can say is that as much of a waste of time this place was before, it is infinitely worse now....for a store that is less than 20 minutes for the front gates of Southern Miss, one would never notice that trivial detail...OM, State, Arkansas, Bama, LSU gear (nice gear, t-shirt designs by regional companies like Southern Sassy) adorn their establishment...there is, to their minor defense, one pathetic rack of women's t-shirts equipped with the old logo strategically positioned near the crapper in the very back of the store....now, the new Owner could be a member of this board or a Cousin of a member of this board...if so, let your Cousin know that at least one Southern Miss family currently living in Texas will not waste its time stopping to shop at their establishment until they realize, geographically, where they reside.....I get it, the SEC schools are a sexy position in marketing to the "Walk-On Alumni" driving up and down 49....that said, a bit of local love may serve them well....just a thought
