Very cool! I am sure the football players loved it. And I think they learned a lot from the experience.
Some years ago I participated in the Army ROTC faculty observer program in which faculty from universities with ROTC programs were invited to observe a week of capstone ROTC training at Fort Lewis, Washington. We wore BDU's and went where the kids went. I got to throw a practice grenade and shoot an M16 (in semi-auto mode). We also participated in team obstacle course training, encountering many of the obstacles the kids had to overcome. These were similar to what the football team faced, though not quite as physically demanding (we were middle aged profs and out of shape). It was a great experience. I'm glad our football team had that opportunity for personal and team growth.
