UAB is shutting down their football program. The Alabama board doesn't want them...makes me hate even more Alabama and Auburn. Anyway, reports are that Banowsky will not allow UAB to stay in CUSA with no football program. Several tweets and comments on the link provided below from another board. The other presidents of the universities also agree. I've attached links about the reports. UAB has fired their AD. Who will we replace them with in CUSA?

UAB Shutting Down Football

University of Alabama Huntsville president last month was asked when UAH was going to start a football program, his answer? "Never, not now, not ever, it's never been talked about, won't happen." The UAH president knows if he barks up that tree with the UA system board, he will be fired within an hour of asking.

Bryant Jr and the Alabama board trustees have been spooked with the growth of Troy, South Alabama and especially UAB.

The lock this board has on UAB and UAH is 100%. The funny thing about all of this is that UA is as successful now in football and all other sports as they ever have been in their athletic program's history.

So what is their worry? Money. They want all eyes on Tuscaloosa.

They are brutal, and there is no reason at all to close the UAB football program down, it's simply outrageous.

That same type of system but much less powerful (but still very effective), is what Southern Miss battles in MS.
