Pitching was as good as expected. Ethridge has the chance to have a big season and Stuart showed that he can spot start if needed throwing 3 innings. Only run scored by UNA was unearned.
USM pushed across some runs early and late to really put this game away. However, leaving 11 on base will not make Coach Berry Happy. Good teams will make you pay when you keep them in the game.
Defense was good especially the infield except for McGillis's boot at 2nd. Lynch, Dickerson are so smooth with the flove.
Was nice to see Sargent start off better than last season. He just missed a HR and has seemed to make adjustments with off-speed stuff.
Lynch will be the most important peice to the team this season in the #3 spot. If he has as good of a season as he did the 2nd half of last season, this team will go a long way. That will mean Dickerson and Sargent and having good years to protect Lynch's at bats.
Dickerson is coming into his own this season. Solid at the plate and defensively he is one of the best SS in C-USA.
Montenegro is fun to watch. He still likes swinging at the high heat, but he is just one of those hustle guys who will do anything. He will even lay down the bunt late in the game, and it was a beauty.
Excited to see Riggins pitch tomorrow. Yes, this was a good win, but UNA is 1-36 against OOC opponents since last season so let's just remember that.
