1. The offense was not good. There is room to improve and it does help to have actual point guards. However, if they continue to miss open shots this team will not win many games.
2. This team is much deeper. Ladner was able to play 10 guys last night and the case can be made that the 2nd group that subbed in was somewhat better than the starters. Ladner will continue to tinker with the starting 5 until he gets a group that he likes.
3. Pinkney is better off he bench. He shot the ball much better and was active on defense. 20 points is a nice night. He was 4-6 behind the arch.
4. Bolden was a suprise. He ran things well at the point and can make open shots. Like any Freshman, he will have his ups and downs but he has a presence that you don't see from many Freshmen.
5. Stevenson struggled to shoot the ball. He is a slow starter. This season he will need to pick it up because Ladner has guys who can fill his role with depth on the bench.
6. I am interested to see how much improvement can be made from game 1 to game 2.
7. Moore gives this team athleticism in the paint that Ladner has not had since he got here. At 6'10, he is quick and can jump out of the gym. He will have problems with bigger guys in the post but there aren't too many of those in C-USA.
8. Pierre is streaky, if he makes 2 in a row, keep feeding him until he misses.
9. No one played over 26 min last night. Last season, some guys were playing 35 plus minutes and were wore down by the end.
Even though it wasn't pretty it was a win and there were glimpses of what this team might be. There were times the Eagles would get up by 8 or 10 then allow DSU to get back in the game. That will have to get better.
