Ito Smith. He was quite a steal as a recruit as he can do so many things with the football. Next year he will start with Tez Parks, George Payne (assuming he returns from injury) and a guy named Patrick Brooks who is red-shirting in the mix. Brooks is a speed guy, Payne is more of a power back, and Tez is a tall, skinny guy who can run, and he has gained about 15 pounds or so since he got here...up over 200 from around 185 or so. This bodes well for next year.
We lose both tackles, plus Peterson, but we are set at both guards and center, and I think the Juco guys, Stutzman and Fleming might take over the tackle jobs, or maybe Harris and Long get worked in and they move some guys around. Perhaps someone who knows more than I do (most everybody) can tell us if Pollard and Dorbeck, two huge guys being red-shirted, are projects or will they be ready to go next year. In any event, our line and backfield look good for next year. We need to find some receivers who will be go-to guys with Thomas and Martin graduating. You gotta like our offense for next year.

I don't know about Pollard or Dorbeck directly but have heard both are doing well and will likely contribute next year. As far as the backfield, Tez and Ito will be a tandem, Brooks is an X factor but will get some carries. Receivers will be OK, I think there are two Jucos coming in and both Mitchell and Robinson have played well this year. Speed is what will be lacking IMO (unless Carlos Burse gets on board as expected). So, I think you are right that the O will be about the same if not better. The defense is in a similar position in my opinion. We are losing a couple of LB's and Kalen Reed and some DLinemen but our best pass rushers are coming back.

It's a little early to be thinking about next year but I, for one, am not overly concerned about the players we are losing. We have a little depth and I expect that Monken and Co. will bring in more players that love to play this game. The right attitude can make a huge difference IMO.
