The worst thing could have happened for C-USA would be if Marshall had finished undefeated and gone to a New Year's Eve/Day bowl game and be humiliated. So it is off to Dallas' Heart of America Bowl to play a team like MN of the Huskers. I think they will still be humiliated but at least the stage will not be as big. I am not so sure if MU will be Rice or La Tech.

I agree. IMHO, Marshall is a good team by CUSA standards, but not even close to a major college football power this year. Marshall would have been killed by Ohio State, TCU, Mississippi State, or whoever they would have been paired against.

Considering the payday a big bowl would have brought, it wouldn't have been the worst thing to happen to C-USA.

Plus, you NEVER have a chance pull the upset win if you don't play.

SMTTT!!!

I believe it's still possible that Marshall can go to a New Years bowl. If Boise State loses to Utah State, and Marshall wins the C-USA championship game then I think they'll be the highest ranked champion in the "Group of Five."

In my original post in this thread I was thinking of the reputation of C-USA {I will pause for a few minutes until you stop laughing and get up off the floor}.......................................: Last year's years bowl game is a great example by a mid level MSU team making Rice look like "Little Sisters of the Poor" football club team.
Financial boosts from big bowls may be a myth. The new and worse C-USA does not know as we have not had a member in a Big Six bowl.
Good news this week is that NCSU beat UNC like a drum.

I disagree when Marshall is firing on all cylinders they would be competitive if not win. You'll may have left early but Marshall is a good football team and their qb is a better passer than Dack
