from the half. Tez seems emblematic of our entire team...we are really slow. Jones can't catch, and why did Payne start the second half? LSU is very physical when they want to be, which apparently is now.

Well, they covered the spread....the coaches will talk about 'missed assignments, gap integrity, and poor technique' and that was true on that last 80 yard bomb, but mostly we are just getting manhandled. Nick is hurt, and can't throw deep when he is healthy, so we are not hard to scheme against. Rice couldn't run with Staggers, LSU has 8 who can out run him....sigh.... 4 touchdowns on 7 plays, but we are winning the Time of Possession...sigh.

I don't know about getting out coached. But like was noticed and exploited by Troy and UTSA. Our Lines, both O and D, are small. Both of those teams had larger lines on the other side of the ball and just beat us down physically. LSU has a 6 inch and 50 lb advantage across the board. And they are faster. We simply do not match up. They can beat us without much coaching.

We will be fine against CUSA teams that are smaller like us. LA tech game could turn ugly like the UTSA game didn't if we are not firing on all cylinders.

Lombardi couldn't have coached these guys to a win tonight. They are just not big, strong, fast or talented enough to compete with LSU's first rate players. Hope this toughens them though - enough to prevent the 2 more CrapUSA losses I've foreseen.

Yep....it's like a Pop Warner team going up against a high school varsity team. Southern Miss just don't have the players with the size, speed, and talent to go up against a team that can go out and get any player in the country that they want.

Don't think we'll ever achieve a higher talent level across the board again. So, many more nets in the water these days and our status is low. Don't know if we are going after better players and just can't interest them, or we just acquiesce. Our best scenarios are we luck onto a couple of stellar skill players who can carry the team and/or we make the AAC, which would help recruiting. Otherwise....

With the way we are playing the ODU game can get ugly.

In truth it is Coach Hopson's first year. He is playing with another man's recruits. Considering that we have went through a string of coaches guys I hope that if Hopson sticks around we will build a chemistry, add depth, and establish our program as strong. I don't know but I'm not as down about it as some perhaps due to these factors IMO. Again we have to embrace that word that has been ever before us - TIME

SethMan, you say Hopson is playing with another coaches recruits, and that may be true. However, if you look at the commitments on the board so far, with the exception of a couple, they don't look at good as what we've got on board now. The difference in the talent level against LSU was glaring. They were bigger, stronger, and faster than our players. I saw with my own eyes a 6'1 255 lb. DT run down our fastest WR. That is scary! I believe the problem starts with recruiting and signing players that have no "Offer List" to amount to anything that is commonly referred to as "Who Else You Got Coach". We are being out recruited by teams in our own weak conference. Totally unacceptable! If Hopson wants to be successful here, he better start selling this university to these prospects. He may have to go after 5th year transfers and juco players to fill in the gaps until he can establish himself with the high school talent if that is even possible considering who he is going up against on a yearly basis. The key is early identification and offering potential "Difference Makers". "Speed Kills", and we have very little.

I agree with you on that. I'm hoping recruitment picks up big time because it must. Hopson must get proactive and aggressive in recruiting. Hopefully the new locker room is an indication that they are making progress in recruiting. I know that was one big reason for building it.
