There is no question Chip Long likes the TE position. At every stop along the way Long's offenses have always took advantages of mismatched situations when you get a S or LB covering a TE.
Here is where Hall's hiring of Long was great. The TE position in the SBC is not one that is overly used. Teams don't usually have to defend the TE amd now against Southern Miss they will. With Reid and Bedford, along with the additions of Tr. Heath and Fr. Jeliolowski, that gives Long some weapons at TE. There has been a lot made about the depth a WR, but the added depth at TE may be more important.
Making SBC defenses cover the TE (not something they are used to) and opening up the box with 2 TE sets, may led to success on the offensive side of the ball.
Do you think the TE position will pay huge on offense? If the OL is as improved as it should be, the offense could turn a massive corner in 2024.
