First of all I respect the tradition of the Rice program. That tradition has been a plus for the conference. I think it has made us better. Although they have been down the last couple of years you never count them out. We learned that last year.
I was outside today doing a few things and my Auburn grad son (follows his Tigers and the Golden Eagles equally) shot me a text telling me Rice was beating FAU. He said, "Dad, Rice is like a turd that won't flush". Not exactly how I would have put it.
Point is it seems teams with tradition and winning are always in the mix when everything is on the line. Just the reason I am glad they were in the opposite bracket.
