Well, no report card last weekend because honestly, there wasn’t much to report. Here’s my take on yesterday’s effort:

Overall-C
Offense-D
Defense-A
Special Teams-D
Coaching-C
The defense kept us in this one. UNA had under 200 yards total offense, 13 points and only 11 first downs. Hayes and Latham are contributing at a high level every weekend and it was enough to hold off a much less talented opponent. Offense had 3 turnovers and only 100 yards passing; but, 245 rush yards was the winner yesterday. Congrats to Gore/Mayberry/Perkins for a job well done. Turnovers (4) kept this from being a blow out. Special teams allowed an early UNA touchdown and had a blocked field goal plus an out of bounds kickoff. In a close game, this would have cost us a win.
Billings said all the right things during his walk off interview after the first half, and it looked like they (coaching staff) made the necessary adjustments to win! If the defense, who has put together 6 straight good quarters, keeps playing well and we can get everyone back on offense next weekend, we may keep it respectable against WKU. Have a great week,
‘Stead
