Not an expert but always heard you could not build long term success using JC players. Guess I am hoping this is not a short term strategy for coaches to advance, leave USM in a hole again. Guess you could argue that by getting the players in and winning it helps recruiting in the future.

That's true, but I guess when you have a talent deficit like ours we had to do something. Also, I suppose we can do a few things to help like redshirting those who don't come in and start right away. We can also bring in some JUCOs early in January, find those who have 3 years to play, and gradually wean ourselves off JUCO players. We do, I agree with you, over sign JUCO players.

Good point on the JUCO's. I think we could recruit enough of them every year to fill in the gaps but there does need to be a balance in recruiting high school talent also. I know we got a commit from Bassfield. They won state this year and the commit is playing in The Rock for the MS-AL all star game.

On the bright side this has allowed us to go from playing almost every true freshman to playing only three this year, and two were because of injuries. Also we have several who have three years to play which is not much different from a high school player. That said, I hope next year we can sign more high school players.
