I was never against hiring Hopson. Always been a fan of J-Hop.
I was against firing Duggan. It was because of continuity, which is so far out of vogue these days that I am now a pariah. I'm good with that. The reason I was so angry is simply we're broke, and we were about to see things really grow.
Hindsight is 20/20, but I feel much better about the future now. We will still take a step back this year. But Hop seems to really want to succeed here. He seems intent on building a legacy. We could use that. For continuity, you know. Lol.
Football can put us back on the path to relevancy in D1. Success in football makes the path much easier for the other sports. Why? Money.
It definitely feels different now. I loved Fedora and Monken, but this feels different. Better. We need to reel off about 3 straight conference championships to get things started. Even with a step back, we'll be in the thick of it this year.
Some of you guys have hinted that Eagle Club membership is up. These things can build on themselves. I hope ticket sales follow. It just feels like we are about to break out.
To The Top
I still say we'd have been 11-1 had Monken stayed. But in the long view, we may be better off.
