We have a very very good team no doubt but do we have a deep enough pitching staff to to make it to Omaha again? What guys other than Smith, McCarty, Brayley, Sandlin and maybe Keys could we go to in a pressure packed situation to pitch a must win game? Could Wallner overcome hip issues enough to be that guy or maybe Roberts, what you guys think? Our bullpen guys seem to give up a few too many walks but hey it's hard to fault anything for a team that is 44-12. We need for our pitching staff to be dominant in the postseason because our bats are going to be up against the best pitching we have faced all year in the postseason, we are going to get every teams ace pitcher as a top seed in conference tourney and probably in regional too. Do we have that mojo as a pitching staff to excel over and beyond what our ERA is as of today?

Looking at the Southern Miss season stats and not counting Wallner there are 4 other pitchers other than the ones you mentioned with an era of 3.52 or less. None of these guys have a lot of innings though. Obviously, Southern Miss will get the UTSA ace in game 1 of the CUSA tournament but the #4 and #5 seeds will probably need to pitch their ace pitcher in their own 1st games.

Yea I see what you are saying I hope Wallner's hip is ok because he can be our diamond out of the bullpen if he is healthy enough to pitch.

The team will have to face UTSA's ace right out the gate. I hope they continue their disciplined hitting. I think getting past the first game, things should get a little easier hitting wiseas most teams would have already thrown their ace. I like our side of the bracket.
