So, the atmosphere on campus and in the Rock was electric on Saturday. Tailgating was something to behold, with smatterings of maroon mixed with a lot of black and gold, giving us a little taste of what it's like to play an opponent that actually brings fans. The impact to the local economy and the interest across the state can't be ignored. There are countless reasons why the series with both MSU and Ole Miss should be played, and basically one reason why it shouldn't. OM/MSU say there is nothing to gain and everything to lose...that they are better off playing a lesser (though the won't admit that it's lesser) opponent at home than by playing USM. And, as much as we hate to admit it, there's simply not another game we could schedule that would generate nearly as much interest for our fans. So, what about 2 for 1's with both? This would give you 2 out of 3 years where you get either OM or MSU at the Rock and 1 year where you play both on the road---maybe giving us only 5 home games that year. It gives OM/MSU an OOC opponent with far more interest than most any other non-SEC team they could schedule. If you could play the role of AD, would you be willing to schedule long term 2 for 1's?
