Walden:
Upset that the guys did not get a chance to compete this week.
This is a year of adapting to change and kids have done a great job of that
Team practiced a little longer on Sunday due to game being cancelled
UTEP is a good team will be tough on the road
Coach Walden expects to have more scholly players available for this game than last, not gonna give a number yet
Tim Jones is still day to day and so is OL Foxworth
TE and RB depth will be better but he gave no names
UTEP is much better defensively and have hot on a lot of JUCO, they are stingy on defense. The WR and QB are really good. Their RB runs hard. They are a very physical football team.. Much better than in years past. Sun Bowl is a tough place to play. They have also had consistency on their staff and that makes recruiting much better. They hit the Texas and California JUCO harf the past few years.
Getting Tim back with his playmaking ability will help with completion percentage and him and JAck have great chemistry.
LPS has stepped up in a huge way. HE played really well against UNT. They are proud of LPS. When Clopton gets back it will be great to be 2 deep there.
Minter (Defense) great D mind, who knows about Southern Miss. Is a great person who is a veteran type coach who can help the staff and give wisdom. His knowledge of the game is unbelievable. Coach Highsmith (Offense) was on Hal Mumme's staff knows the state well. He has a lot of wisdom in the passing game. Great christian guys who can help a young head coach put sometimes.
Walden has started getting more comfortable on gameday when it comes to coach's chemistry. The communication has gotten so much better. They UNT game was the best this season.
This team has gone though so much and Coach Walden is so proud of this team and their "next man up" mentality. There has been a lot of PDA's (player driven actions) that he has seen more every week. It is a testament to team growth and they will do anything the coaches throw at them.
Kubik:
Offense was disappointed not to play, wanted to get back out there.
Guys realle enjoyed the escape room on Saturday
Nice to watch some football Saturday
This UTEP defense is good. JUCO guys are playing well. They hit on a lot of JUCO players. They have been tugh on defense.
He hopes there is more back on offense. Todd has been doing a good job.
Ragsdale should be back, Clopton and Foxy are still up in the air.
There was much better execution on the offensive line. LPS gives the Eagles depth when Trace comes back.
They run a Tampa 2 Coverage with a DB standing in the middle of the field. That hampers the RPO game and be patient and sustain drives.
Gunter had a great job catching against UNT, Cavallo has been dependable, especially with Baker out. TE is thin right now.
Kubik has to do a better job of getting Jack into the flow of the game and he is becoming more comfortable with WR's.
Pecoraro:
UTEP is a very talented offense. They run the football hard. QB does a good job of getting the ball to his playmakers.
The young guys and backups have done a good job of stepping up and playing good.
TQ Newsome is going to get more snaps. HE took advantage of his opportunities and will get some more. Portlock did the same thing.
Maples has done a great job of being adaptable. HE can play inside and outside, wherever they need him to play. HE played literally every snap against UNT.
Barnes was injured early in camp ans it continuing to grow. He does a good job in the running game.
Tyler Barnes said Coach Walden does a great of bringing energy to the whole team. Barnes has used YOGA to get better.
Jack Abraham:
Disappointing not to play but it does give the offense a chance to heal up.
HE is really building better chemistry with the WR and there has been an open line of communication. When they get TIM back, they will be more explosive.
LPS was awesome and he brought energy all day. HE played well and there was no communication issue. HE is such a smart guy that he was able to adapt to anything in the game.
Coach Walden is the same guy he has always been and the team loves it.
There was no big changes to the offense it is Kubik's system but Coach Walden has had some thoughts and adjustments to it.
