He was the first commissioner for CUSA. He would later serve as the commissioner for the SEC.

I well remember him as CUSA commish. Had he been sick? The beginning of CUSA was such a major step for USM. First it was basketball, then football followed the next year. Ironically 1996 was a banner year for USM football for most of the season. The conference offered a bowl tie in which was a major step. I could go on and on, but back to the original point, sorry to hear of his passing as he helped get the conference off the ground.
