I’ve been following USM men’s basketball since 1962 and have never seen an uglier (as Heath adequately described it) first half in all those years. A lot was bad luck, and the other half was a spectacle of piss-poor playing. I counted 4 missed dunks. One thing I have never seen before. On one of our shots, the ball went below the rim, and the net popped the ball out.

Several players were outstanding, Hart, with 14 rebounds. Ivory with some clutch 3s and Izay. - Tegra Izay finished with a career-high five blocks and became the first Golden Eagle to reach the mark since Isaih Moore had six during the 2021-22 season - Southern Miss' 10 blocks were the most since it recorded 10 against Dillard on Dec. 23, 2009.

Hart went out with what appeared to be an ankle injury. Curbelo went out of the game for what seemed to be an injury or an illness. It didn’t stop him from wiping sweat from the mid-court floor with a towel. A mystery? It was a goofy game, but we came away with a road win.
