You know at the time I thought Hop was an awful hire because it did not follow the model of successful for G5 schools which is catch a ride a rising star. I used to be on the pay board but dropped that because you were not allowed to doubt Hop's established SWAC credentials. After all he almost beat TM (almost counts in atom bombs horseshoes and hand granades) I held my power until he hired his staff and then lost all fath. I think he could applied the same model to his DC and OC. I thought the OC followed that track but his DC choice was not on the roadmap to win.

Now in Hop' s defense he does have some talent and size issues. Our D line is way to small and we do not have a D1 middle linebacker. That will cause issues in the run Defense. At least not one that is ready to play this year.

Right now Hop has and oppunity to show his medal. Step in right the ship and win three games against team that are currently playing better football the his team is playing. Also turn this year recruiting class around by get at least 4 recruits that he has to when from USM peer schools or better. He may not like it but he is going to have to go JCO/5 year guys. Right now for a lot of our recruits to me it looks like he is still recruiting an ASU dream team. We are not even going after guys sought by Sunbelt team.

The hole he is in now is deep but winning the next 3 would show something. If he pulls that off I will not say another negitive thing on a blog for the next year. I met Hop and really think he is a hight quality guy but is he an FBS head coach? If so let's see it!

Todd Munchen should have had better timing. That being said USM was not under any obligation to rush into hiring a permanent head coach. That rush to judgement was made in panic mode . My choice at the time [and now] would be Tony Franklin. MTSU's offense should prove my case. But like Gary says "it is what it is".Monken was here for three fb seasons and four recruiting seasons. So whatever roster problems we have fall on Monken Are we that bad roster wise? My alma mater, West Florida started D2 this season. Our O-line averages 320 and all are red shirt sophomores. UWF is 5-5and has a chance to finish 6-5
