we go to a bowl game. I don't think anyone believes we can win the next three, I know I don't...we will lose them by a considerable amount..we will surely get whooped badly by the first 3. That leaves lowly UTEP, and possibly South Carolina (makeup for Appy who would have rolled us worse than USC will) so I am inclined at this point to hope we lose all remaining games which differs from the possible by 1 game (UTEP) and that is only a possibility at this point, so maybe it puts Hopson in the hot seat. I mean a 3 and 9 season is not gonna go over well at Southern Miss. Two seasons like that and maybe we can think about buying out Hopson remaining contract. But then again, the judgment of the folks that hired him will likely foul up any potential new hire.

No way we can buy out anyones contract. We don't have the money nor the donors. The few donors we had who could put up the money have abandoned the program. Only way we get a new coach is to let him finish this contract and not renew it.

Hopson is here until his contract runs out. Unless he has a 6 win season. Then we'll sign him to a new contract.

Football is dead at Southern Miss folks. We can't recruit, we can't win in CrapUSA and we can't draw fans. That's a death knell for a competitive program. it saddens me, but that's the way I see it.

I still think we should pour money into the basketball program where we might actually be able to compete nationally if we get just 2-3 players.
