Army be a football only member. Army seems to make a living playing Sun Belt/C-USA teams. Navy does also and they are going to the AAC, football only. Army fb sucks so they will be at home in C-USA East. Army, ODU, Charlotte, FAU, FIU, WKU.MTSU and Marshall.

I have a lot of respect for our military academies. But, Army hasn't been competitive and has only had 1 winning season in the past 18 years. Yes, they somewhat have a national following, but they really don't bring much to C-USA in my opinion. Their last run in C-USA (1998-2005) was pretty much a failure. Personally, I prefer a team that can bring football/basketball and just let UAB go on their way. I'm quite sure C-USA will aim for a market again.

And we've won one conference game in the past three seasons.

Army would almost certainly beat us.

We can't really use that argument anymore.

Here is what will happen:

CUSA will just find a random no-name school in a major city;
The random no-name school in a major city will play in CUSA for a few/several years;
After a few/several years, the random no-name school in a major city will leap frog past USM and into a better conference.

History repeats itself.

Memphis, Tulane, Houston, SMU, East Carolina, South Florida etc. left us behind, and clearly they didn't make a lateral move. And if you go back to the Metro Conference days you see FSU, South Carolina, Va Tech, Ga Tech, Cincinnati etc....yes, history is repeating itself.

What a load of crap. The Aac has the same level of access to big bowls as we do. Marshall would be playing in a BCS game if they wouldn't have choked. Their payout is nearly identical. They have zero national respect. Every member is praying for an invite somewhere else. The only difference between CUSA and the AAC is the names of the members.

And all of those schools had fans that supported them and wrote checks, states that funded them, etc. All we have is a bunch of whiners that tear down our school, our players, and our conference. They don't give. They don't buy tickets. They just expect everything to be handed to us.

And if WE got an invite to join them we would leave CUSA and join them in a New York minute. Sigh.

All of those other schools left to join a conference that had an AQ bid, and was promising them a tv contract worth $15M per school. Turns out, they are now just another outsider, and their tv contract is about what CUSA's is. Why would we pay huge exit and entrance fees to join what is virtually the same conference as the one we're in?

Army is 4-7 and lost to Yale this year. We most likely would have beaten them this season. And 1 winning season in 4 years is hardly comparable to 1 winning season in 18 years.

As for teams advancing to "better conferences"... I don't see anybody moving up to a power conference from the group of 5. We are all in the same boat... From the American to the Sun Belt.
