How about Coach Les Miles

Here is a copy of the contract Les Miles had at LSU. It is a bit complicated due to part of the contract being a base salary for coaching, part of it being for all of the TV/radio shows, and part of it being incentives. It worked out to at least 3 million dollars a year and with any degree of success over 4 million a year. By the numbers I can find, Southern Miss is currently paying the head football coach less than 25% of that amount.

Les Miles....not gonna happen....anyone else...not gonna happen. We couldn't afford the buyout, much less the salary required by a "name" coach. Even a "potentially" (as in Todd Monken) good coach puts that out of reach. Looks like the Southern Miss powers that be are content with a (usually) winning season. The only chance of moving on will be for Hopson to have a Eloss type season, and I think he is good enough to not let that happen. We will never be a Boisie or TCU. Mediocrity has always, and will always be our forte.
