I've been told by several great supporters, that family members who tailgated at the Rock in the past, with their Motor Homes have stopped coming. The former areas for motor homes are now occupied by beautiful new buildings. These structures are much needed, and are vital to the overall growth of Southern Miss. IE.......The School of Nursing and Scianna Hall, just to mention a couple. They are beautiful and you all need to see them.
Here are 5 'let's think outside the box' ideas:
#1-Where Elam Arms stood for years: now it is a large vacant area (destroyed by the F-4 Tornado). This would be a great spot for a new "MOTOR HOME VILLAGE!" or, "RV'S FOR SOUTHERN MISS!" Whatever.
#2-This would be an opportunity for the City to jump on board and show their support for Southern Miss. It would be a Home Run for both USM and Hattiesburg.
#3-The University and the City could make this a 'Park like setting' across the street from the "Gateway" main entrance.
#4-The Engineering and Design School could do the planning. Get the Landscaping people involved, and we could have a really neat new gathering place on Game Day! at least, until 'Hilton' or 'Marriott' finally pull the trigger with their new Hotel. Let's use the space to our advantage, it's beautiful!!!!!!
#5-One other thought.......add shuttle service for these folks, and it could be a great way to recruit some of our old time supporters back.
