Gundy and Monken to Florida Rumor ?

I didn't see anything about Monken going to Florida, but I guess the theory is that if Mike Gundy took the Florida job that he might offer the OC position to Monken? Here is a link below that says Gundy has the best odds of becoming the new Florida coach. It would kind of surprise me if he would take it since all his connections are with Oklahoma and OSU. He grew up in Oklahoma, was a QB at OSU, and the vast majority of his coaching career has been at OSU.

If the Gundy-Monken to Florida scenario did pan out, it would be an interesting turn of events.

Gundy to Florida?

Gundy is T. Boone Pickens lap dog. T. Boone Pickens is the billionaire OSU alum who refurbished out dated OSU facilities to stae of the art. OSU is 4-6 with games OU and either TCU or Baylor. OU is a giant disappointment to many. I thought OU'sSugar Bowl win over Bama was a fluke. OSU played well against FSU but it has all been a down hell slide after that. Gundy had his best teams while Fedora and Monken as O-coordinators/ I believe this years O-coordinator came from D-III. This would be a horrible hire.

Doesn't make much sense to me....Kinda like been there done that. That's basically the position he left to come here.

There are no names. Florida ad has been extremely tightlipped. If I were them I would want Colorado State Coach but because of big buyout I predict they ultimately hire Marshall coach. Should be interesting Doc Has steadily improved that Marshall program. If Monken were to Leave now he would basically be saying I am no head coach and shutting the door to that for at least a very long time. I think he and USM are prepared to put in two more years to straighten out this mess. Next year will be much belter. You heard it here SMTTT

If Mike Gundy isn't selected then it won't matter. And if he is selected, and accepts, we still don't know if he would invite Todd Monken to join him.

It really could make a lot of sense, depending on what's going through Monken's mind. And nobody knows that except him. If after two seasons he views the situation here as a quagmire that doesn't have much upside, the possibility of becoming the new OC for the Florida Gators might look like a wonderful change of scenery. How does he feel about being a head coach now that he's done it for two seasons? Is he enjoying it, or is he asking himself "What have I got myself into?" One of his mentors, Jack Del Rio, was a head coach for the Jacksonville Jaguars, got fired, and now seems to be content as the DC for the Denver Broncos. Having experienced life as a head coach, Monken might be thinking that returning to his specialty for a prestigious program like Florida is where he would feel comfortable. Also, he would probably make more money as an OC for Florida than he is here, and I'm sure Florida could easily buy out his contract if Gundy said that's who he wanted.

On the other hand, maybe Monken likes being a head coach despite the dismal first two years. Maybe he has a burning desire to prove that he can be an excellent head coach and is determined to turn the Southern Miss football program around. If so, I'd expect him to stay even if Gundy gets the job.
