Not just this year. Back in the day when I was a grad student at the University of Missouri-Columbia, it was a football-crazy place. At that time they were in the Big-8 conference and were doing pretty well. They had this HFC named Al Onofrio. He had some very good teams with big upsets and then went 6-5 for a couple of years. So they dumped him. The story at the time was that he was fired because he was 1-6 against arch-rival Kansas. Then they paid off a huge contract to get Warren Powers away from Washington (State). I think Powers' first year was 7-5 and it seemed to go south from there. It was a good many years before anyone noticed Missouri again. Point is that sometimes when you've got it pretty good you shouldn't change horses. 9-3 is pretty good. We'll see how Georgia does now.
