Ok guys, there are a lot of rumors floating out there about potential future match-ups. We've all heard them and here's the ones that I think have at least some legs:
1) Louisiana-Lafayette: This one I think will happen and may be a done deal. The unconfirmed rumors that I feel have the most merit are that USM and ULL will do a four game home and home contract with two games at each location. Could start in 2017 in Lafayette.
2) Tulane: Rumors have been rampent over the past few months about future scheduling with Tulane. When they popped up on USM Men's basketball schedule last week it only added to the speculation. I believe that Southern Miss would like the same deal that we talked about above with ULL, at least four games alternating home and home.
3) Big Ten: Started picking up notions that Southern Miss is in talks with at least two Big 10 schools about potential games. I think Bill McGillis is talking to anyone who will talk about home and home games and possibly even 2-1's. I won't be surprised if it is announced in the near future that he has secured games with at least one Big Ten team.
4) Hearing that talks are going very well with Mississippi State to get that series back on the books. I do believe that MSU will make a return to Hattiesburg but it may end up being a 2-1 with a big pay out to USM on the second game in Starkville. It also appears that Mississippi is not as willing to talk about coming to Hattiesburg. I do not see a series with them in the near future.
