hopefully all of our future recruits tune in to this message board to see how our "fan" base likes to praise our team and coaches. i personally think that monken has done a great job considering what he had to work with after the elloss johnson year. i've missed 5 home games since 1984...some were on TV when it was cold/hot/raining etc. but i went to the game anyway to support the team. i have never boo-ed our players or coaches. i cringe when i see a stupid penalty or a "bad" play-call BUT that is going to happen on every stage, on every level. Ever seen an NFL lineman get called for a false start? mark my word, the more we win, the more complaining there will be on this board. if we win 8 games you'll be saying we should have won 9 or 10. BE positive, be supportive. FEDORA even called this message board out, by name, and chastised the "fans" for being so negative and critical. ITS HARD TO LURE A 3, 4 OR 5 STAR PROSPECT TO OUR SCHOOL ALREADY. IF HE GETS ON HERE AND SEES THE LACK OF SUPPORT FOR OUR SCHOOL THEN MAYBE HE DECIDES TO GO SOMEWHERE ELSE. YOU NEVER KNOW WHAT WILL BE THE FINAL STRAW TO PUSH THAT 18-YEAR-OLD'S BUTTONS. PEACE AND SMTTT!!!

I'll say this, We were supposed to play this game in Hattiesburg had it not been for Johnson. I can only wonder how the game might have turned out. Either way this team excites me I just hope they stay grounded, continue to improve, and represent Southern Miss football!

Actually the 2013 game was supposed to be at home. That was the one we sold back to Nebraska for $2.3 million.

Easy, you remember one of the MAIN reasons Iowa wanted us to change our logo was that "it confused recruits." Yeah, sometimes some recruits aint the brightest tools in the shed. a lot of times we give them a scholarship and they DONT get a degree even though they spend 4 to 5 years on our dime. point is that there are more negative comments on here, second-guessing, questioning every time a coach or player farts or looks sideways. we could represent our school better to make a better impression on these recruits.

I'll go with what I've heard recruits and their parents say. They have said that they do read this board and it does have an impact on what they think about USM. Now does it make or break their decision to go to USM? No. But does it influence a recruit? Yes. Just like everything we do in life, what we do and how we act influences others. How people on this board act influences not only athletic recruits, but student recruits too.
