What that means, is the rich schools will offer more "personal expenses" and we will lose recruits because we cannot afford to match what other schools can offer. There needs to be an upper limit on what can be paid.

The problem is how does the NCAA monitor a limit? Once everyone can legally be paid, trying to verify how much thousands of players will get would be impossible. That's why this whole thing is stupid. It will just be a bidding war.

I disagree. I think it would be easy. Let the players know they are allowed , say $100.00 a month for personal expenses. Anything above that will disqualify an athlete from ever playing again. They will police themselves. If you are 2nd string and getting $50 , unfairness will not go unnoticed. And a school who violates the police will suffer sanctions. Too many people involved to keep secrets. It would work.

This amount will not only differ from school to school it will also differ from player to player at the same school depending on the individual players circumstances. Saying that it will be ripe for cheating is about the understatement of the year.
