Cody Carroll traded to Baltimore Orioles

Carroll part of a trade to acquire the Orioles closer. He's been with the Yankees Triple A team in Scranton/Wilkes-Barre all season. Orioles assigned him to their Triple A team in Norfolk. Much better chance he sees the majors soon given how bad Baltimore has been this season.

Carroll called up from Norfolk by the Orioles today. With the team in the Bronx tonight and could make his debut against the organization that drafted him.

CARROLL DEBUTS
Cody Carroll, acquired in the trade last week that sent Zach Britton to the Yankees, made his big league debut in the bottom of the seventh inning. The righty -- using an upper-90s fastball -- tossed a scoreless frame, working around a two-out double by Giancarlo Stanton.

"He's a confident kid in a good way," Showalter said. "I think he's glad to get that behind him, but not in a nervous, anxiety type of way ... he was kind of wondering why we took so long. His presentation is very confident."
