This letter is to invite you to participate in a raffle fundraiser, to assist with the current struggles facing the family of former Southern Miss Baseball Head Coach, Corky Palmer. As many of you know, Corky served as Head Coach of the Baseball Team until his retirement. He served USM from 1998 – 2009 and dedicated his career, heart and soul to providing for USM’s Baseball Program. The legacy he built for USM Baseball continues to prosper, although he is in desperate need of assistance.
On August 11th, 2020, Corky suffered a massive stroke which left him needing constant medical attention and care. Since his stroke, his family has been bombarded with extremely costly out-of-pocket medical bills. To ease the burden, we have set up a nonprofit raffle where ALL proceeds go directly to Corky’s medical expenses. Those who wish to support Corky, and his family, will have the opportunity to purchase tickets or make a direct contribution to his family’s situation. Those who purchase raffle tickets will have a chance to win a beautiful, handcrafted stained glass, 18 x 18" home plate with centered eagle head, etched in honor of Corky, locally made by Barbara Gandy, the daughter of Pete Taylor. There will be more prizes raffled which include other USM memorabilia pieces! The drawing will be held on February 18, 2022, suiting for opening day of college baseball!!
