That you for mentioning the 2003 Southern University baseball because that team was by far the best team ever in the history of the SWAC which might not say much but that team had Rickie Weeks who later went from playing SWAC baseball to the Milwaukee Brewers literally in the same year. SU also had an ace from Jackson that later went on to pitch for the (Dewon Day)Chicago White Sox. Let no one kid you, that SU team played I think 45 games that year and won 40 of them. They were on the cusp of breaking into the top 25 despite their horribly weak conference. I strongly believe that that SU team could've beaten using their ace Baylor if USM was #1 seed. The fact a SWAC team got a 3 seed tells just how talented they were.
Crazy things happen in college baseball...in 1987 USM defeated Alabama but lost to Alcorn State...I would love for anyone to verify that USM actually did in fact lose to Alcorn State. The records say so, but if anyone can verify that would be nice.
Living in Houston, Texas Southern defeated defending national champion Rice after several lightning delays in 2004... it happens.
BTW the UAPB pitchers walked something like 10 batters but still didn't allow a hit sort of like to Reds no hitting the Pirates but still LOST...crazy!!!
