Baseball vs UNO tonight

Rule #1 about USM athletics. Don't get too excited for a new season. They'll let you down at one point. I just didn't think it'd be to a bad UNO team.

Can't really blame Berry for that one. All the things we did well against Murray State the players failed to do last night. Bad defense and poor plate discipline fall squarely on the players' shoulders.

I'll blame a coach who has failed to teach his players basic fundamentals of baseball every single year he's been here. Maybe players aren't executing because they aren't being taught.

And tonight they lose to North Florida. I know there's the line, "That's baseball!", but these past two games don't inspire confidence of a conference champion in the making.

And they're about to lose to powerhouse baseball program St. Louis. This is ridiculous. FIRE THIS GUY. It should happen before he even gets back to Hattiesburg.

I wasn't going to say this before because I wanted to give Berry a chance but I will say it now that before this season ever started I was excited about next season...with our new head coach. Berry is a nice guy but he is being outcoached. We can't buy out his contract so we have to let him have his exit year season.

When those two aspects have been major shortcomings under Berry throughout his tenure, I think it falls on the shoulders of the coach. It isn't like we rarely see these things.

It is also a lot easier to do things well against a team that gave up 32 runs on 39 hits in their final two games against IPFW.

Over the last three years, our players have seemed more focused on who has the most ironic facial hair than baseball.
