USM certainly had more success up until the mid 1990's, when Schnellenberger was able to get Papa John's Stadium built. Since then, Louisville has made the most of their resources. Their program peaked right about the time conference expansion & realignment began.I've never really liked the Cards either. Because they are in a good market they get into a bigger conference. Schools should be rewarded for their success on the field and USM has yet to receive their reward IMO. Still in this lousy conference. I'm not sure what has to happen for us to get out.
On that subject, does anyone besides me feel like that disappointing November 2011 loss to UAB cost us not only a spot in the Sugar Bowl, but also our last shot at a ticket out of C-DOA?If conference expansion had occurred 10 years earlier, USM would have been right in the mix.
