Alabama beats Clemson 45-40 to win national championship.

A game like this is good for college football. It was outstanding in every way to me.

We watched two, not one but two real champions play tonight. The clock ran out with BAMA leading. However, it could have just as easily read Clemson 45, Bama 40, but Saban's decision to go for the onside kick and its success broke the slugfest open in Bama's favor.

it was a gutsey call indeed, and I have to ask, don't we know someone else who made similar decisions this year for us? This game tonight gives me even more respect for Coach Monken.

May have been a great game, but 8million fewer people saw it compared to last year's game between a MidWest school and a North West school. My guess is because both teams were from the South. ESPN must realize the SEC is still only a regional conference and as hard as they try to make it national, it won't happen. The big schools in the Midwest, Texas and out West are the big draws. This championship drew the same numbers as the last BCS championship game, which just so happened to be between two South East teams.
