I was very happy with the result of this game. This is the type of performance I wanted to see against an FCS opponent. The game gave a lot of players experience. The offensive line was looking good, and all three running backs had success running and catching the ball. If the team has a good running game this season it will open up the whole offense. Great effort and gang tackling by the defense.
I think next week's game against Texas State will be a deciding factor in whether or not the team has a big season this year. Texas State is probably comparable to an average C-USA team. Southern Miss has to show they are capable of winning the game convincingly.
