HATTIESBURG, Miss. -- The Southern Miss football team, which captured the Conference USA West Division championship on Saturday, recognized its 2015 senior class as well as gave out its awards for the regular season with its Senior Send-Off here Sunday afternoon at the Thad Cochran Center.

During the program, which included desserts for the players and invited guests, a highlight video of the season was played along with the awards given out, as well as tributes to the seniors by their respective position coaches. In addition, each Golden Eagle senior got the opportunity to tell why it was special to be able to wear the Black and Gold during their respective careers.

Third-year coach Todd Monken gave out the awards which included:

Sammy Winder Scout Team Players of the Year: Tez Parks (offense), David Bertucci (defense), D’Saveon Patrick (special teams)

Willie Heidelberg “Unsung Hero” Award: Cameron Tom

P.W. Underwood Toughness Award: Dylan Bradley and Casey Martin

Austin Davis Newcomer of the Year Awards: Taylor Marini (offense), Andrew Bolton (defense), Stephen Brauchle (special teams)

Ray Guy Special Teams Co-MVPs: Evan Osborne and Lance Schuffert

Adalius Thomas Defensive MVP: D’Nerius Antoine

Brett Favre Offensive Co-MVPs: Mike Thomas and Jalen Richard

Jeff Bower Team MVP Award: Nick Mullens

Reggie Collier Team Captains Award: Brian Anderson, Rashod Hill, Nick Mullens, Kalan Reed, Michael Smith

The Golden Eagles now sets their sight on a C-USA title as they travel to Bowling Green, Ky., this Saturday, Dec. 5, to face East Division winner, WKU, in the league championship game. The contest kicks off at 11 a.m., CT on will be televised on ESPN 2.
