SOUTHERN MISS TO THE TOP!

Recent news from practice....

From everyone I have spoken to, it seems that the transition from Hop to Walden has been a very smooth one. The players really like the shorter practices. (Former players have told me that the long practices really wore them down during the season and those they felt that it lead to some injuries.) The team attitude has been great and they are truly behind and excited to have Walden as the HC. I actually did not hear any negative reports, but like anything, it is very early.

ETBU Stats from 2016....

These numbers are insane, that was a different animal at the D3 level. For sure, defensive stats will have to be better.

Scotty Walden Zoom Presser Quick Hits....

He found out about 3:45 pm on Monday that he was the new HC

Billings moved back to the defensive side of the ball to coach Nickels and Stringer moved back to TE

His practices will be shorter, more intense, but shorter

He is excited about being the HC, great opportunity for him.

The decision has not been made on who will call the plays. It really seems like he wants to have some impact in play calling.

There has been no talk of position changes yet, still to early to make those changes.

Leadership Question

Did it concern any of you guys that we have a senior QB who didn't seem to be showing any leadership? Just don't see that fire that he wants to win and would do anything possible to get that win. He led us down the field on many occasions but seemed to just fall flat in the red zone. Maybe the play calling was at fault but I guarantee you that if I was the QB and got another run up the middle call I'd audible and give my team a chance.
