Bill Crawford is a guest writer who is very liberal. Read the article below. You will see his comments about the risky deep water drillig and lack of oversight. He knows nothing on the topic. If he did he would know that liberals forced BP and others into deep water drilling where it's more dangerous to drill. There is plenty of oil in shallow water to drill, but liberals wanted oil drilling further off shore. His writing lacks oversight as well.

One sided Bill

I just didn't realize that the governor of California, or the former governor of Florida, both states that wanted no part of ANY deep water drilling were liberal. Seems like it has a lot more to do with not seeing those unsightly things out at sea as well ecological disasters than just politics. As I write this, I guess the thread should be moved to another board.

Actually, the governors of California and Florida turned out to be RINO republicans, and very liberal...but what takes the cake is President Obama has given millions of foreign aid to Mexico recently to drill for oil in... the Gulf of Mexico!
(And yes, this needs to be moved to the Hub.)

what takes the cake is Libs/Gov't regulators oversee business and when one thing goes wrong they blame business and forget about real solutions. Crybabies who can't actually do anything except tell you how to do someting in theroy.

You are absolutely right! We should all plan to eat our seafood from Asia from now on and if you want to enjoy a beach trip just plan on going to Spain. Drill baby drill! Don't take a pause to make sure that it is being done as safely as possible, oh no. Just drill baby drill! Oh yeah, and go Palin!

What this article and millions of Americans seems to be forgetting is that IF the MMS had done its job and done the inspections that they were suppose to do the BP disaster would have never happened. Obama shucked and jived his way right past that. This is just another case of the Government not being able to properly run anything. Name me one branch of the government that runs effeciently....Hell they cant even run the Postal Service. But, yet we as Americans just allowed them to railroad the health care take over. We better wake up and demand better from our representatives.

BP took risky short cuts - several things went wrong that would have caught the problems - multiple problems created the perfect storm - the odds were very slim that all of those thongs would go wrong - and NONE would have happened if BP had not taken short cuts. This has been done safely thousands of times for many years. This is purely political and nothing else.

Exactly right, politics, Obama isn't against drilling in the Gulf. He is against US drilling in the Gulf.
We have had tens of thousands of rigs in the gulf for decades, safely. BP screwed up and they are paying for it big time. Meanwhile, most beaches are as pristine as they ever were, the seafood industry in making a rapid comeback, and the future looks as bright as it ever really did, except for idiotic political posturing.

Yep, Obama and BP and Bush and the goverment agency that had oversight all share blame. The drilling can be done safely if done right. The environmentalists should be high on the blame list for forcing the rigs into deep water. As said add all those that cry about not wanting to be able to see the rigs. And it needs to be said again, Obama is just against us drilling. He loaned boatloads out for South America to drill while he was shutting down ours. Just so his buddy, Soros, could make a killing on the deal.
